Coach Jerome D.Nelson “Coach JD”
Director/Player Development Coach


Coach Jerome Nelson is a Cincinnati, Ohio native and former student of Princeton City Schools (2005).
After high school Coach Nelson attended Post Grad - Harmony Prep School (2006), in an effort to gain
more college basketball exposure. At Harmony Prep, he earned an athletic scholarship to attend Iowa
Central Community College. He was fortunate to have the opportunity to play under NJCAA Hall of Fame
Coach Dennis Pilcher for 2 years. After completing 2 years at Iowa Central CC (2008), he reached his
goal receiving an athletic scholarship to further his career at a NCAA Division II School, Minnesota State
University-Moorhead, MN.


During his career at MSUM had the highest single season 3pt Field Goal Percentage (47%), as he was
nominated as Team Captain, recipient of Team Coaches Award, and Team Most Improved Player Award
(2009).


After two seasons, Coach JD attended tryouts to play professionally at several different combines. He
eventually signed a contract to play Semi-Profrofessional in The American Basketball League for the Little
Rock Lightning (2011). Coach Nelson quickly gained the reputation as a sharpshooter beyond the arch for
his 3Pt shooting ability. After his rookie season, Coach Nelson was excited to return home to fulfill his true
passion to coach basketball.


Since returning home, Coach JD has enjoyed 10 years in coaching basketball sharing his knowledge,
experiences, and expertise to players on all different levels. He has coached and trained at the middle
school, high school, and collegiate levels. He has also served as AAU Basketball Program Director,
sports performance coach, and scout/evaluator. Coach Nelson was also a recipient for The Urban League
Young Professionals of Greater Southwestern Ohio Honors Award (2018) for his commitment in service
and giving back to the community.


Over the past 10 years Coach Nelson has connected many student athletes to colleges. Helping some
earn an athletic scholarship. Under his mentorship hundreds of student athletes have gained the
understanding of sacrifice, patience, focus, effort, discipline, respect, and commitment. All core values
Coach Nelson believes it takes to be successful on and off the court. Coach JD is currently Owner/Head
Player Development Coach for JD House Of Hoopers. House Of Hoopers Program is committed to player
development and character development for student athletes that are passionate about learning and
competing in basketball.
